Stiff Neck

This commonly reported musculoskeletal symptom can result from stiffness in neck muscles and / or stiffness in neck articular structures.


Neck stiffness can vary in severity from a slight restriction to complete inability to move the neck. Neck stiffness can develop gradually over time or can have a sudden onset.


Neck stiffness can also be a symptom of other conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, torticolois, meningitis and encephalitis to name but a few. These are appropriate for management by you GP and mainstream hospital services.
